Today is a very cold and rainy October day.  I can hear the torrents of rain beating down on the roof.  Brrrrrr!
I can't seem to get warm, so donned one of my favorite warm knitted pair of slacks and a sweater, but still feel chilled to the bone.  Time to make a fresh pot of tea!

Yes, I am still lingering on finishing Jenny Bean, but I do have a good excuse for lagging behind.  I had a nasty illness last week and was on antibiotics.  I was just so exhausted and every time I picked up my needle to stitch, I would fall asleep and wake up still holding my needle!  It was a good effort, but needless to say, did not produce great results.
This week I received this wonderful set of designs from June (http://www.butterfly-butterflywings.blogspot.com).   How kind of you, June to send them to me!  I can't wait to stitch one of them very soon!  These are such delightful French designs by Dany (http://dany88.canalblog.com)

With my spirits bolstered, I resolved to start "My Lovely Stitching Tools" mystery sampler, from the Gift of Stitching.  I am stitching this as a SAL, with Jo and Clare, which is already a lot of fun.  Not a lot of progress this week, but it is a start!

AND NOW, FOR THE REALLY BIG NEWS:  MY VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!
Giveaway Drawing on October 28th!
Since starting my stitching blog, I have received so many wonderful comments, and have made some very dear "blogger friends".  It is just so special to connect with all of you with the "threads" that connect each one of us to one another, intertwining our lives, our stories, our joys and sometimes our sorrows, all of which make up our own lives.

To Enter My Giveaway, Please:
1.  Become a follower, (if you are not already one)
2. Share something about your love of stitching.
3. Please post about my giveaway on your blog, and write a comment to let me know too!

I am so excited about having my first giveaway, and I hope that it will be great fun, hearing from everyone!  On October 28th, the winner will be selected and I will post the name of the winner.  Good Luck Everyone!

It is such a joy to share with all of you. Your kind and thoughtful comments mean a lot to me.  Have a lovely, "stitchy" weekend!

Crossing in Stitches With You!

  2. That cold weather is headed our way tomorrow. Guess I better dig out the sweaters! Your JB is so sweet! I think you're enabling me.

June has sent you some lovely French designs. Should be fun to see them stitched up.

Your giveaway looks amazing! It's such a generous thing to do and I'd love to be included. I started stitching as a means to release stress since I find it very calming, almost like meditation. I love seeing those little xs become a beautiful work of art!

  3. I'm so sorry you were sick this week. I hope you are feeling better. Sometimes I feel cold from the inside out and just can't get warm. Jenny Bean is looking great. You have some super projects coming up. You have really come up with a fabulous first give away. I hope I can be eligible even though I don't have a blog. One of the things I love about stitching is the thrill of seeing the piece take shape and come to life with each stitch.

  11. So glad to hear you are better Kathy. I myself am feeling a twinge in the back of my throat :( It must be the change in weather. Luckily we have the sun out, albeit crisp and chilly! I love the patterns June sent to you! How sweet of her! Great progress on Jenny Bean! It's such a lovely piece. I was thinking of getting it myself sometime next year!!

I would love to be entered in your giveaway. How lovely! As for my love of stitching, I love the feel of the threads going through the linens, and the building of a picture on my canvas. 58. Hi Kathy...I would love to have a chance at winning the giveaway. I've become a member and posted on my own blog at www.fugue-chrisg.blogspot.com. Here's what I wrote:Hello, if you haven't checked Kathy's blog out, you should. Mostly because you really aught to see her work. She stitches beautifully and her up-close and personal pics of her work are a treat to view (no squinting of the eyes), but also because of her stash giveaway that she is offering. You've only got til the 28th of October to join in the fun so here is the blog link: http://astitchersheirlooms.blogspot.com/

I have been stitching for about 30 years now and find it the only activity where my brain is not zooming around like a hamster (well, at least my hamster). I can stitch for hours and have been known to skip a meal or two for stitching. I hope to pass on this love to my two daughters and imagine us sitting around a table, drinking tea and stitching quietly (they are young so not very quiet at the time.)

Kathy, you've a great eye for lovely work and enjoy the close-ups of the stitches. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

    Best regards,
Christina - Miami, Florida - USA

  60. Beautiful stitching! Love the gift that you received from June, too. I hope that you're feeling better now!

I will pass on the very generous giveaway, but thank you for the opportunity! I've been very lucky lately and don't want to be a greedy gumlets. I will say that stitching, for me, started out as the thing that (unless I had to frog!) stayed finished--when dishes and dirty diapers and laundry and cooking always had to be done repeatedly--when I learned how to stitch when my twins were babies. Then it graduated to what helped me to decorate the house. Now it still does all of that but it is also the thing that keeps me sane, helps me to think out the problems of the day, and calms me down. Plus, through the internet, it's introduced me to some very wonderful people and for that I will be eternally grateful!

  99. What a great giveaway. I like how compact stitching is so I can take it with me while I wait for kids to come out from after school activities.

  103. Kathy: What a lovely givaway, my favorite part of stitching is knowing the fabric and threads will become to me an heirloom piece to have for a lifetime, maybe someday it will be carried through another life after I am gone.
I will post about your givaway on my blog.
    Blessings
    Catherine

  108. One of the reasons I love stitching so much is because it's my stress reliever. No matter how bad of a day I may have had, stitching always brings me back to my happy place.

Consider the Lilies of the Field
"So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the Lilies of the Field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, that even Solomon in all his glory, was not arrayed like one of these." Matt: 6: 28-29)
